Kogi gov. sacks political appointees

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has directed all political office holders to hand over to the most senior civil servants in their ministries, departments and agencies.

 A statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Folashade Ayoade, noted, however, that some appointees were retained.

The statement listed the retained appointees as, “All honourable commissioners, directors-general, direct aides to the governor, direct aides to the deputy governor, aides to the chief of staff aides to the wife of the governor and the aides to the wife of the deputy governor.

The statement added that the head of service, auditor-general for state and members of statutory commissions were not affected by the directive.

“The handover process must be concluded on Tuesday, 3rd December, 2019. Copies of the handover notes should be forwarded to the office of the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State in soft and hard copies.

“The government of the new direction appreciates the affected officials for their immense contributions to the development of the state.” the statement added.
